How can I secure the yacht I have selected for charter?
All charters are governed by a comprehensive contract to ensure a seamless experience. Once we confirm the availability of your selected yacht, you will receive a Charter Agreement and a deposit request to secure your reservation. This agreement outlines the terms and conditions and the responsibilities and rights of both parties. A deposit of 50% of the total charter fee is required to confirm your booking upon signing the Charter Agreement. The remaining 50%, along with an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), which is a prepayment to cover the operating expenses during the charter, any applicable VAT taxes, delivery/redelivery fees, and any other mutually agreed charges, will be due six weeks before the start of your charter.

The base charter fee covers renting the yacht, cruising from homeport to homeport, and ensuring everything is in excellent condition. This fee includes yacht insurance, the necessary charter license, and the professional crew's wages. Are taxes and VAT included in the luxury yacht charter rate?
No, they are not. VAT - short for “Value Added Tax '' is applied on top of the yacht’s charter rate and the amount is determined by the VAT rate of the EU country in which the charter begins. Understanding VAT is essential when chartering a luxury yacht. It is typically applied to the entire charter fee, based on the VAT rate of the country where your journey begins. This amount is due as part of your final payment, which is usually required around six weeks before your charter starts. Additionally, depending on your location, VAT may apply to delivery and redelivery fees. It's crucial to know that in certain locations, VAT can be levied on the charter fee and the Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund used to cover expenses such as fuel, food, and beverages during the charter. These details can significantly influence your budgeting. Different countries have varying VAT rates, some significantly higher than others. Some charters require a security deposit, which serves as a refundable amount held for potential damages or breaches of the contract. Usually, this deposit is a percentage of the charter fee and is returned after the charter concludes if no issues occur. While not all crewed yacht owners request it, a security deposit is mandatory for all bareboat charters.
What are the payment terms?
When you finalize the MYBA charter agreement, you secure your experience by making a 50 % deposit of the total charter fee through a bank transfer. To ensure a seamless start to your adventure, the remaining 50 %, along with the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), applicable taxes, delivery or redelivery fees, and any other agreed charges, will be due via bank transfer just six weeks before your charter begins. What is a MYBA contract and MYBA terms?
MYBA Contract - Western Mediterranean Terms (WMT), also known as “MYBA Terms”. MYBA contracts are internationally recognized and respected in the yacht charter industry. An MYBA yacht charter contract provides a standardized contract, offering clear and consistent terms that are understood by all parties involved in chartering a yacht. The parties include the yacht owner, the yacht manager, the yacht broker (oftentimes, the yacht broker also has the role of manager), and the charterer. MYBA terms clearly defines all terms related to yacht charter; from delivery, crew, and captain’s authority, to cancellation, breakdown, insurance, payment of the charter fee and others. The clauses included within the contract are comprehensive and have been crafted to account for all possible scenarios. In the MBYA terms contract; the charter rate includes the hire of the yacht with all its equipment in working order, tools, stores, cleaning materials, the crew’s wages, the crew’s subsistence, the insurance of the yacht for marine risk and third party claims and the crew for employer’s liability. All other operating expenses are payable by the charterer via an APA account, such as fuel for engines and generators, fuel for tenders and motorised water toys, harbour fees & taxes, custom clearances, all food & drinks, pilotage fees, communication costs and others.
What is an EMT Agreement – Gulet Terms?
Some Gulets and Motorsailers are contracted under the EMT (Eastern Mediterranean Terms – Gulet Terms). The charter rate includes accommodation on the vessel, crew and their expenses, fuel for up to 4 hours of cruising per day, fuel for generators (typically limited to A/C usage), public harbor fees & taxes, use of recreational equipment, and tourist taxes. VAT is payable extra by the charterer. You can choose from our Half board or Full board food and drink options, including Alcoholic or Non-alcoholic beverage packages. Obligatory extra costs in these terms are Food options (Half board or Full board) and Beverage options (Alcoholic or Non-alcoholic packages). Additional expenses may include port, marina fees, anchorages, day trips, delivery fees (if appropriate), extra navigation hours, fuel for tender-operated watersports, and other expenses not explicitly mentioned.
What is the cancellation policy?
The cancellation policy provides guidelines for canceling a charter and specifies any penalties involved. It includes important details such as cancellation deadlines and the proportion of the charter fee that may not be refunded. According to the MYBA contract, if you choose to cancel your charter, the owner may keep your deposit or the entire charter fee based on when you communicate your cancellation. The owner can retain your deposit if you cancel after making your deposit but before the final payment is due. Conversely, if you've already paid the entire charter fee, the owner retains that amount but will refund the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA). If you're considering canceling, speaking with our charter broker is essential. They can assist in liaising with the owner to explore options, such as rescheduling your charter for a later date. Additionally, be aware that cancellation policies may vary across different contracts.
