1. Day:    Bodrum - Kos Island

Our first destination is the lovely island of Kos, just a short distance from Turkey's ancient Caria coast. There’s something truly special about this island, with its vibrant greenery and rich history that makes it a must-visit. A poignant highlight is the Asklepieion, known as the birthplace of Hippocrates, the "Father of Medical Sciences." In ancient times, people came from all corners of the Eastern Mediterranean seeking healing here, which speaks volumes about the island's legacy. As you explore Kos, you'll be enveloped in its natural beauty—its fertile lands and mild climate create a welcoming atmosphere perfect for relaxation. Don't miss the opportunity to see the remarkable 560-year-old tree, the charming 211-year-old fountain, and the historic 14th-century fortress that stand as testaments to the island's long history. With its expansive 290 km of stunning beaches, Kos truly offers something for everyone.

Take a moment to unwind at Lambi Beach, close to the harbor, and later, immerse yourself in the lively nightlife that Kos has to offer. Nafklirou Street is always bustling, filled with colorful bars where you can enjoy the infectious energy of the island. As you walk along the shores or cycle through the town, be sure to visit the ancient ruins. Each site, from the Asklepieion to the Castle of the Knights to the immense Hippocrates tree, tells a story of the past and provides a connection to the island's heritage. We’ll gather for a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay on Kos Island, creating memories that we’ll cherish long after this beautiful experience.

2. Day:   Pserimos Island - Leros Island

We're excited to embark on an early morning cruise to Pserimos Island, a serene haven tucked between Kos and Kalymnos, just six nautical miles north of Kos and close to the Turkish coast. This small islet covers only about 15 square kilometers and is home to around 100 residents who rely on fishing and tourism. Its isolated charm offers a unique escape, where you can truly feel a sense of freedom and a profound connection to nature. Picture yourself sunbathing and unwinding on the beautiful, sandy beach, where the shallow waters and breathtaking views give you a sense of peace. The beach is not only wide and inviting but also sheltered in the deep bay, lined with friendly tavernas and cafes that welcome visitors with warmth. There’s even a small harbor for those arriving by boat. While the island may be tranquil, with just the single sandy beach, you can explore the tracks that lead over the rocky hills to discover hidden coves, each moment inviting you to embrace the simplicity and beauty of this special place.

There’s truly nothing quite like the feeling of solitude on a remote island—it's an experience everyone deserves at least once in their life. The slow-paced and tranquil way of life among the locals can be incredibly soothing, allowing you to unwind and embrace a sense of peace.

As we continue our cruise, we arrive at the enchanting Greek island of Leros. This gem of an island offers a healthy climate, ideal for those seeking a quiet getaway. With its lush greenery, inviting coves, and beautiful sandy beaches, Leros warmly welcomes visitors with its serene landscapes. The main port, Aghia Marina, also known as Pandeli, greets you with its charm, featuring a striking crusader castle and six historic windmills on the hills. As you explore, the lively area of Platanos opens up, serving as the island’s social heart. This vibrant space harmoniously connects with the picturesque fishing harbor of Pandeli, creating a delightful atmosphere where you can soak in the culture and beauty that surrounds you.

The setting is truly enchanting, with white houses gracefully scattered around the bay, creating a sense of tranquility. Lakki port is a gem, representing one of the best examples of Art Deco architecture in Greece. Designed by Mussolini’s architects in 1923, it carries a deep historical resonance, especially considering how the capital was moved above the village of Platanos, defying the original plans. Leros welcomes you with an abundance of beautiful beaches and secluded coves, inviting you to explore its serene landscapes. A lovely spot not to be missed is Vromolithos beach, just a short twenty-minute walk from Platanos. Its gentle curve and the small island at its center provide a peaceful escape, perfect for soaking in the natural beauty around you. Don’t miss the chance to dine at the renowned Mylos Restaurant, affectionately known as Taki’s. Their menu, which adds a creative twist to traditional Aegean seafood, promises to be a comforting experience for your taste buds. After a lovely meal, extending your stay on Leros Island offers the opportunity to truly immerse yourself in its charm and warmth.

3. Day:  Lipsi Island

Our cruise continues in the morning after a delightful breakfast as we set off for the charming Lipsi Island! Lipsi is a little gem tucked away south of Samos and north of Leros. Part of the northern Dodecanese and close to Patmos, it’s made up of a small group of islets. As we arrive, you’ll instantly fall in love with the picturesque whitewashed houses and adorable churches with their blue domes. The best part? There are hardly any cars around, so life flows leisurely around the island’s lovely port. Lipsi is a truly beautiful and authentic island in the Dodecanese, where you can take a moment to immerse yourself in the local culture. The beaches of Platis or Giolos, with their enchanting crystal-green waters, will surely soothe your spirit. And while you’re here, don't miss the chance to visit the Church of the Catopanaghia from the 7th century or the 15th-century Church of Panopanaghia. 4. Day:   Patmos Island

We will set sail for Patmos early in the morning, and I can already sense the calm that this enchanting island offers. Patmos is a truly special place, filled with serenity and tranquility. It's a relief to see that it remains largely untouched by industrial growth and mass tourism, preserving its picturesque charm. The island boasts a delicate coastline, with secluded beaches and lovely bays that invite you to unwind, all surrounded by the stunning crystal-clear Aegean Sea.

As we arrive, you’ll notice the Monastery of St. John (Agios Ioannis Theologos) resting majestically on a hill above Chora. While you explore, you’ll feel the deep spirituality that permeates the air; the Cave of the Apocalypse and the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian truly shape the essence of this remarkable island, making it a deeply moving experience.

St. John found solace on Patmos, where he wrote his deeply inspired Revelation, the Apocalypse, the concluding book of the New Testament. The Monastery of Saint John, surrounded by strong walls that evoke a sense of protection, stands like a fortress between the two main villages, Chora and Skala. Chora, the heart of Patmos, captivates with its picturesque charm. Built around the majestic 12th-century monastery, the village features lovely whitewashed houses lining narrow streets and alleyways. The flourishing courtyards invite you to pause, while the paved paths lead to breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. You can feel the heritage of the island in the beautiful mansions from the 16th century, each a testament to the rich history and resilience of the people of Patmos. Connecting Chora and Skala is an ancient donkey track from 1794, offering a glimpse into the past. Skala, the island’s main harbor and most populated town, warmly embraces visitors with its welcoming atmosphere. Built around a lovely port, this charming town invites you to linger, reflecting the island’s history and community spirit.

5. Day:   Ikaria Island

Ikaria Island, nestled in the northeastern Aegean Sea between Samos and Patmos, feels like a warm embrace from nature. With its rugged landscapes, quaint villages that seem untouched by time, and inviting beaches, it truly offers a glimpse into the heart of authentic Greece. One of the island’s remarkable features is the surprising number of centenarians, which speaks to the island's rich way of life. The therapeutic hot springs invite relaxation, and the local wines carry the essence of the land. The legend of Icarus, who tragically fell into the sea while reaching for the sun, adds a poignant layer to the island’s story. As you wander through its lush, rocky terrain, you’ll find traditional architecture and friendly faces that welcome you like family. The remnants of Byzantine and Roman civilizations serve as gentle reminders of Ikaria's rich history, providing a sense of connection that fosters reflection and appreciation for the past. There's something truly special about Ikaria that resonates with those seeking not just a destination, but a place that feels like home.

The Castle of Koskina, a stunning relic of the 11th century from the Byzantine era, stands proudly atop a mountain peak. As you wander through its ancient walls, you’ll find the church of Saint George, a beautiful reminder of the spirituality woven into the island's history. Drakano Fortress, another poignant piece of this island’s military past, was built by the Athenians during the time of Alexander the Great. This robust 44-foot high limestone structure not only served as an observation point for the Aegean Sea but also holds the stories of those who once stood guard over the waters.

While in Kampos village, the remains of a Byzantine Odeon tell tales of noble gatherings where music and theater flourished. It's easy to imagine the laughter and applause that once echoed through its halls. Don't overlook the Roman baths of Therma, where the soothing hot spring waters provided healing to countless individuals in ancient times. Sadly, after an earthquake, the springs on Ikaria island ceased to flow, leaving the city submerged beneath the sea. Today, those remnants can still be seen while snorkeling in the area, allowing you to connect with a past that is both haunting and beautiful, a silent witness to the resilience of nature and humanity.

12. Day:    Santorini Island

Looking out over the tranquil expanse of cobalt water that fills Santorini’s caldera, it's hard not to be moved by the beauty surrounding you. This stunning view masks a history of one of the most violent volcanic eruptions in our planet’s timeline, reminding us that nature can be both breathtaking and fierce. What we now adore as the “Jewel of the Aegean” was once a volcanic cone that erupted 3,600 years ago, leading to the land's dramatic transformation into a serene archipelago. The mesmerizing ring of islands cradling the caldera showcases the resilience of nature, creating a breathtaking panorama. The largest island, the crescent-shaped Santorini (Thira), holds a special place, cradling the caldera’s edge with grace. This group of islands—Thíra, Thirassiá, Asproníssi, Palea, and Nea Kaméni—reminds us that the earth is alive, still carrying the echoes of its volcanic past beneath the shimmering sea. As you explore Santorini’s seaside treasures, take a moment to immerse yourself in its deep blue waters and unique beaches, whether they’re adorned with white, red, or black sand or volcanic pebbles. Thira, affectionately known as Santorini, holds a special place in the hearts of many, often seen as a link to the legendary Atlantis due to its stunning volcanic landscape and rich history. Jules Verne brought this enchanting island to life in his captivating novels, "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" and "The Mysterious Island." Through the eyes of Captain Nemo and his crew, we experience the awe of the volcanic eruptions between 1866 and 1870, capturing the island’s raw beauty and energy. It's easy to see why Santorini is celebrated as a top destination in Europe and beyond. For many, Santorini is not just a getaway; it's a romantic haven that tugs at the heartstrings.
