Today, it’s a cherished destination for those seeking peace and adventure on the water, standing out as one of Turkey’s most sought-after yachting spots. For those who love the sea, Göcek offers a soothing atmosphere tailored for yacht enthusiasts. While the nightlife is limited, with just a few cozy bars and a lively music venue, this tranquility can be a comforting escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The lovely esplanade invites you to stroll along, soaking in the sights and sounds of the waterfront, where a sense of community thrives. As you approach Göcek, you’re welcomed by its serene harbor and modern Mediterranean charm. It’s a place that feels like an oasis, with its inviting bays nestled among islets and lush pine forests. The clear waters and gentle breezes create a calming ambiance that is hard to resist. Surrounded by the majestic Taurus Mountains, Göcek opens up to a world of undiscovered coves and the remnants of ancient ruins, allowing you to connect with the rich history of the Lycian civilization while enjoying a unique and tranquil holiday experience.
2. Day: Ölüdeniz
As we continue our cruise to Ölüdeniz, it feels like stepping into a slice of paradise, often described as Eden bestowed by God on Earth. The breathtaking natural wonders here truly create a sense of magic. The lagoon, with its hidden sandy bottom sparkling under the sunlight, is a sight that captivates the heart. Surrounding this beauty, the lush pine forests present a comforting palette of greens, blues, and purples that gently soothe the spirit. From the summit of Baba Dağı, towering at 1,975 meters, the views are nothing short of awe-inspiring. The Ölüdeniz lagoon, nestled to the west of the beach and embraced by verdant hills, welcomes you with a serene passage to the open sea. This protected area is a genuine treasure, showcasing a beautiful sandy beach and inviting turquoise waters that draw you in. It’s no wonder it’s consistently named one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Here, visitors can engage in activities like paragliding, allowing them to connect with the scenery in a truly unforgettable way. It's a place that invites you to savor every moment.

After a lovely lunch, we set sail to Butterfly Valley, a truly magical place that was designated as a first-degree world-protected area in 1995. It’s heartwarming to know that this beautiful valley remains untouched by construction, allowing nature to thrive at the foot of Babadağ, which many believe deserves world heritage protection. The towering cliffs, reaching heights of 350 meters, provide a stunning backdrop for this sanctuary, which is home to over 80 species of butterflies, with the enchanting tiger butterfly being the most recognized. As the day winds down, we’ll find our way to Gemiler Island for the night. This island is not just a scenic stop; it's rich in history, with captivating Byzantine ruins that can be viewed from the sea. Walking among its over 40 ecclesiastical buildings and Christian tombs, including the remarkable Church carved right into the rock at the highest point, feels like stepping back in time. The crescent-shaped bay offers a safe and inviting place to anchor, allowing us to connect with this serene environment and each other.

Each dive tells a story and creates memories that linger long after the journey. If you have a passion for ancient history, nearby sites like Patara, with its hillside theater set against the backdrop of Patara Beach, are waiting to be discovered. This area is a cherished haven for yachts, offering a sense of tranquility that many seek. As you explore the northern coast, you’ll discover the ancient city of Apollonia, a site rich in history dating back to 4 BC, where remnants of summer houses and seaside homes whisper tales of the past. Don't miss a visit to the majestic Simena (Kaleköy) Castle; the views from up there are bound to take your breath away. For dinner and a cozy overnight stay, the Gulet will anchor in the welcoming waters of Ücagiz Bay. Situated about 36 kilometers from Kas, Ücagiz envelops you in natural beauty, making it a significant stop for yacht tourism and a gateway to the wonders of Kekova Island. Take a moment to appreciate the remains of the castle walls on the rocky hill, part of which lies beneath the waves, alongside the intriguing ruins at the east end pier. The town, steeped in the legacy of the Lycian civilization, is especially touched by the presence of St. Nicholas’s Church, a beloved site that draws countless visitors year after year. Many are moved by its exquisite mosaics and the magic of its acoustic properties; standing at the base of the stage door, it’s almost surreal to communicate with someone at the tunnel's entrance and hear them clearly. A short journey away, Myra awaits, revealing its ancient treasures set against a backdrop of rocky beauty and stunning sea views. As you explore this remarkable city, filled with tombs and inscriptions that go back to around 500 BC, you can’t help but feel a deep connection to the history of those who walked these paths long ago.

You’ll also find remnants of an ancient wall that speak to the rich history of Lycia, inviting you to reflect on the past as you hike along the trail, which takes about 1.5 hours. Just across the island lies the captivating Bedri Rahmi Bay, also known by its Lycian name, Tasyaka, meaning ‘dark bay.’ This picturesque spot is cherished for its stunning natural beauty and deep historical roots. It’s heartwarming to know that Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu, a revered figure in Turkish literature and art, left a lasting mark here. In the summer of 1973, during a memorable cruise with friends, he drew a fish on a large rock, which we now affectionately call ‘Fish Rock.’ This charming landmark stands at the entrance of the bay, welcoming visitors with warmth and nostalgia while embodying the artistic spirit of Eyuboglu. It’s a place that invites you to pause, reflect, and connect with both nature and history.
The beautiful Yassica Islands hold a special place near the Port Göcek group, easily spotted on various maritime maps.
